OPEN CALL · NEW YORK CITY
BACK THE ARTIST.
The work is personal. The possibility is real.
Every artist has a next step. A performance they're preparing for. A piece of work they're determined to finish. A competition they're ready to enter. An idea that needs materials, practice, travel, time—or simply the support of someone who believes it deserves to exist.
OpenCall.NYC puts those ambitions in the spotlight. Patronage is where you can discover individual artists, understand what they're working toward and find a direct way to support their next chapter.
Not just a name and a payment link. The person, the purpose and the story behind the work.
New York's creative community is made up of people who build extraordinary things long before an audience sees the finished result. A costume takes hours of design and construction. A recording begins with a voice and a vision. A pageant appearance demands preparation, travel and an enormous amount of unseen work.
Patronage offers artists a place to explain what they're pursuing in their own words: what the opportunity means, what support would accomplish and why this particular moment matters.
For supporters, it's an invitation to get closer to the creative process—not simply to contribute, but to understand the work they're helping make possible.
Approved Patronage opportunities appear as individual profiles. Each will identify the artist, their creative endeavor, their stated goal and the approved ways to connect or provide support.
We are developing the first collection of Patronage listings. Profiles will be published as applications are reviewed and artists approve the information they want to share.

Pageants, competitions, auditions and performance opportunities. Sometimes the next step requires travel, registration, rehearsal time, wardrobe or the resources to show up prepared.
Costumes, wigs, props, instruments, studio sessions, photography, original recordings and other tools of an artist's craft. The details that make a creative vision tangible.
Training, independent artistic development, new projects or a chance to bring existing work to new audiences. Support can help an artist pursue a clearly defined creative goal.
A performance can be funny, beautiful, outrageous or moving. But the meaning behind it isn't always visible from the audience. A song may honor someone. A costume may represent years of work. A competition may mark an artist's first chance to be seen on a much bigger stage.
We want artists to have room to tell those stories, while remaining in control of what personal information they choose to share.
Each approved Patronage profile can introduce the artist and their body of work, explain the proposed endeavor, show a specific financial goal and intended use of support, and provide artist-approved social, portfolio, contact or direct payment links.
01 DISCOVER
Explore approved artists and creative endeavors. Find out what they're building and what support they're seeking.
02 UNDERSTAND
Read the artist's story, see their work, review their stated goal and learn what your contribution could help accomplish.
03 SUPPORT
If an endeavor speaks to you, use the artist's approved direct-support method or contact information. Contributions go to the responsible artist or their authorized recipient—not through an OpenCall pooled fund.
04 STAY CONNECTED
Follow artists through their published websites and social accounts, and enjoy any project updates or acknowledgments they choose to provide.
Supporting an artist does not necessarily mean buying advertising, receiving a product or securing a commercial return. Some artists may offer a thank-you, updates or recognition; others may simply invite voluntary support.
The individual listing explains any benefits actually offered. Patronage on OpenCall is not presented as a tax-deductible charitable donation, and inclusion on the platform is not a guarantee of how a project will turn out.
OpenCall publishes and connects. The artist remains responsible for their project, payment destination and any commitments made to supporters.
TELL US WHAT YOU'RE WORKING TOWARD.
We're interested in more than the amount you're seeking. Tell us who you are as an artist, what you hope to accomplish, why it matters to you, how the support would be used and when you hope to make it happen.
You can include examples of your work, your creative background and the links you'd like prospective patrons to see. Your private contact information is used for review, not automatically published. Have you ever wanted your own digital billboard? Check out Digital Billboard Websites -->
Submissions are free. We may reach out for clarification, suggest revisions or decline to publish an opportunity. If accepted, you'll be able to review the public information.
